The Sementrian Microbuck (SMB) is the official national currency of the Republic of Sementria. Its name uses the prefix “-micro”, because, like a micronation, it is not legally recognised as currency. The defined market value of a microbuck is roughly 0.1GBP. However, conversions are rare, and SMB cannot be converted to GBP. Based on extended observations, we can confidently say that the perceived value of a microbuck roughly matches the market value of one. We have found that citizens treat microbucks as objects of value and are willing to accept them as forms of payment.Shown below are all current denominations of microbucks. These are 1B, 2B, 5B, 10B, 20B, and 50B. Note that on a standard keyboard, the symbol for SMB is unfortunately not available yet. So, rather than the official symbol with two horizontal lines, we use a standard “B”.
These designs, as with the flag, early badges and medals, and other unused posters, were actually designed in the Geometry Dash Level Editor. This is a practice dating back to very early Cumonia, and is still in use today. However, more modern softwares such as Word, Excel, and Canva are now also used.
ID and signing
To prevent counterfeiting and excessive production, each microbuck must be signed and given an ID. Signing must be done by the government recognised manufacturer, often the President or Prime Minister themselves. However, government appointed printing officers can also sign them. The ID system follows three simple steps. First written is the batch number. A “batch” is a group of notes minted within a short period of time. A batch number also often changes with the denomination. Secondly, is the date of minting, written in DD/MM/YY format. And last is the value of the note. This process is handwritten on the back of each
note. Shown below is an example of a signed note with an ID.
Payroll system
Citizens receive microbucks weekly, following a government “Payroll system”. The process, having evolved over time, is rather complex. However, we are willing to make it as complex as it needs to be, if it means our citizens enjoy being part of Sementria. The process for South Sementria consists of a production team, a payroll list, and a team of distributors.
Production Team
Working for the Prime Minister of South Sementria is a team of Printing Officers. These largely handle the production and minting of Microbucks. Microbucks are printed in sheets, each one containing different amounts of notes, the most common being nine. These are printed in various amounts, and cut out using professional tools like safety scissors. As of now, these are given to the Prime Minister the week before they are needed.
Payroll list
Given to the distribution team is a payroll list. This contains the names of all citizens within Sementria, along with their wage, and a box to tick upon paying them. Previously, a single Chief Distributor handled the entire list. However, we have recently switched to a new system involving groups. Citizens are grouped based on who they are commonly around most. Each group has a Group Distributor appointed. The Chief Distributor gives each Group Distributor a Group Payroll List, along with the amount of microbucks they need to pay their group, which is listed on the Master Payroll List. The Group Distributors then pay their group using the Group Payroll List. This system is much faster than making the Chief Distributor run around and hand everyone their wages.
Shown below are examples of a Master Payroll List, and a collection of Group Payroll Lists (these are cut out individually), with names redacted.
Wages
The amount a citizen gets paid is determined by how active they are, not their position. For example, a Chief Patrol Officer who only participates a few times a month would earn far less than a low-ranking civilian who is active daily. As shown on the Master Payroll List, wages are sorted into four groups, M, S, Hs, and E. These stand for, in that order, Minimum, Standard, High Standard, and Elite, and are equal to 3B, 5B, 8B, and 12B. Exceptions are rarely made, except for a certain Prime Minister who decided he needed 13B for some reason. I don’t even get a wage, for pete’s sake. These wages are decided by the President/Prime Minister, and can be changed at any time, by simply updating the payroll list. Note one person on the Group Payroll list is listed as 2B, proving exceptions can be made both ways. The N/A wage is given to those who are unable to receive their wage, or those who simply do not have one. For example, our President is listed as N/A, as he does not legally have a wage. Citizen Natsuki Salvato is listed as N/A, as she cannot receive a physical wage, despite continuous attempts.
The Republic of Sementria follows a traditional, military-based hierarchy dating back to Cumonia. Although it is technically legally recognised, the traditional hierarchy has fallen out of date, and is almost entirely ceremonial now. Despite it no longer being functional, it can be traced back to the very beginning of all Lower Yard micronations.
In this article, we will be following the history of the Sementrian hierarchy, and how it has evolved over time.
Hierarchy in Cumonia
The hierarchy originates all the way back to the People’s Republic of Cumonia, before it became a kingdom. During this period, frequent, real invasions were very much a threat, and so a functional military was created. These soldiers fought for Cumonia, and were recognised as such. To keep track of these, a proto-hierarchy of sorts was formed. Commander Longbird King Testix It consisted of three positions. King Testix, Commander Longbird, and a division of soldiers, known as Bodyguards. These would be numbered as “Bodyguard Number 1”, “Bodyguard Number 2”, etc., rather than using names for whatever reason. However, Bodyguards did not rank the same. Any soldier with a number higher than yours was under your command. It can be illustrated as such:
At some point in Middle Cumonia (an exact date is unknown), Bodyguard Number 1 had his name changed to Lieutenant Long… On second thought, we will simply call him Lieutenant L. The underlying hierarchy remained the same, so the reason for this change is uncertain.
Early Sementrian Hierarchy
This hierarchy structure remained the same until the Battle of Cumonia, where Cumonia collapsed as a micronation, so all hierarchies stopped. Read more about the period between Cumonia and Sementria in the Culture and History section. During a meeting not long after the Battle of Cumonia, the Sementrian hierarchy was established. It was, essentially, an exact copy of the Cumonian hierarchy, with the names changed slightly. Notably, King Testix was changed to President Testix, General Longbird (who changed his name during Late Cumonia) became Commander Longbird again, and “Bodyguard” was changed to “Seminion”, being a combination of “Sementria” and “Minion”. Very clever. Nearly all of these are still in use today.
Right at the start of Early Sementria, estimated to be between January 4-19th, a new position was introduced to the hierarchy; the Lieutenant. A Lieutenant individually controls three soldiers, while still under the authority of Commander Longbird. This was a very early example of delegation, albeit not very effective. This new hierarchy can be illustrated as such:
This was also when some of the first ever written documentation was being kept, including a hand-drawn diagram of the hierarchy, resembling this one.
Non-Military additions
Later, a brand-new division was added to the hierarchy. This was known as the Border Patrol, the first ever non-military division of citizens, and one of the first things outside of Commander Longbird’s control. The Border Patrol was managed by two joint Chief Patrol Officers, who controlled the regular Patrol Officers. This was designed for a combination of reasons. Firstly, was the reason advertised. The Border Patrol could scout for enemies, gather intelligence, and, well, patrol the border.
Secondly, the Border Patrol was predicted to be more appealing than an army, and it was thought that people would be more inclined to join if it was presented as a “Border Patrol”, rather than an “Army”. A marketing strategy, one might say.
And finally, the practical reason. The Border Patrol wasn’t divided into groups of three, unlike the army, so it ended up being used to store new citizens until vacancies in the army opened. This also marked the first registered female citizen, as Patrol Officer 1.
Alongside the Border Patrol, a modern Sementrian government introduced the “Independent Faction” rank. This was for citizens who did not fit on the traditional hierarchy diagram, as citizens not on the diagram were not technically registered as citizens.
The Goon Barbers
The introduction of the Goon Barbers marked the first time citizens were fully in control. Started by Commander Rose, the Goon Barbers was, well, a barber shop. However, it was rebranded to a private army during a meeting between Commander Rose and President Testix. The Goon Barbers is now recognised by the government as a private army, listed on the hierarchy diagram, a political party, who competed in the 2026 South Sementrian Election, and a barber shop .A simple hierarchy is followed by the Goon Barbers. Commander Rose is in full authority, with all others as soldiers/MPs/barbers ranking the same. Notably, the Goon Barbers is also the only all-female division in Sementria, with nine members being recognised by the government, although many more claim involvement.
The Modern Sementrian Hierarchy
As of today, the Sementrian hierarchy is a diverse ecosystem with a rich history and a variety of positions and opportunities. Although many parts are largely ceremonial, they still play a huge role in tradition and culture. The most recent additions are the First Commander and Prime Minister.
A First Commander is in legal control of the entire Sementrian Armed Forces (SAF), with the role of the General being made entirely ceremonial. This is rather redundant, as, with the SAF itself being ceremonial, both positions are technically ceremonial. However, it still marks a shift away from tradition and historical power, and into the modern democracy. Read more about the SAF Revolution in the Culture and History section.
A Prime Minister is in control of one Sementrian State. As of now, this is South Sementria. Introduced due to the Sementrian Split, the PM is elected every year, with an election period of one month starting in early June. The PM is under authority of the President, but most of the time makes independent decisions for South Sementria. Shown below is a diagram of the modern hierarchy still in use today, with names redacted.
On Monday 8th June 2026, the President of Sementria announced that he would be moving schools, to the one adjacent to the school that Sementria currently operated in. Naturally, this caused an administrative nightmare. Sementria could not be governed from a separate school.
So, the President had the genius idea to get someone else to do it instead. A month-long election was hosted, to decide a Prime Minister to handle South Sementria, while the President remained in North Sementria.
Election Scheduling
The election consisted of three periods: Application Period, Campaigning Period, and Voting Period.
During application period, potential candidates submit their applications for candidacy. Those who meet the requirements make it onto the ballot paper. These requirements involve a minimum citizenship time, and having no criminal history. This lasts one week.
During campaigning period, accepted candidates are given two weeks to campaign however they like before voting begins. This could be through posters, speeches, overhead aircraft, etc. The President must remain impartial throughout the election, but often helps with graphic design if requested.
And during voting period, every citizen is given a ballot with the accepted candidates. Citizens have one week to fill these out and return them to the person in authority, where they are counted four times by various sources, then counted twice by the President, once again by a different set of sources, and then recorded in slow-motion to be counted again. These are necessary precautions after the results of the 2026 Prime Minister Election.
Shown below is an example of a ballot used in the 2026 Prime Minister Election, with names redacted.
Authority of the Prime Minister
The Prime Minister has similar authority to the President, but limited to South Sementria. The Prime Minister can still be overruled by the President, but instances of this are rare.
The Prime Minister has ultimate authority on the legal hierarchy. He has legal rights to issue exiles and other punishments, assuming standard legal procedure is followed, with a clear violation of the law stated. The Prime Minister decides wages, tax rates, and microbuck production supplies. Many national activities are also organised by the Prime Minister.
However, the Prime Minister has no authority whatsoever within North Sementria. The Prime Minister retains zero authority if a new Prime Minister is elected. The maximum period between elections is exactly one year. The Prime Minister is bound to the same legal restrictions as the President. As stated previously, the Prime Minister is still legally under authority of the President.
The Current Prime Minister
At the time of writing, Prime Minister Doyle (or Prime Minister Longbird) has legal authority over South Sementria. He won the 2026 Prime Minister Election with 17 votes. He is in possession of his shiny gold badge with his name on it, and has had authority transferred. Some notable policies of his include
No printer
Prime Minister Longbird does not possess a printer. This is rather inconvenient, so he has appointed a team of Printing Officers. These, under the command of Prime Minister Longbird, print microbucks, payroll lists, newspapers, posters, anything paper-and-ink-related. As of now, only one Printing Officer Exists, but Longbird claims he will be expanding to a delegated team.
Less crime, more recreation
A large policy of Prime Minister Longbird’s is a strong crackdown on crime in South Sementria, while opening more recreational activities. President Testix’s rule has been notoriously lenient, so Longbird promises harsher punishments for criminals, and less second chances. Longbird has been historically heavy on authority, being a military leader, so nationalisation of this has already proven controversial.
To keep in touch with the President, weekly meetings have been scheduled with the President and Prime Minister. These are expected for every Prime Minister, but do not have to be in-person. These meetings, held outside the capital, allow trading of microbucks between states, signing documents, and advising the Prime Minister on how to run South Sementria. Shown below is a campaign poster for Prime Minister Longbird.
Legal Classifications
North Sementria and South Sementria are both separate states of the same micronation. Both states have their own governments, treasuries, laws, and citizens. But they share the same currency, flag, President, and national identity.
The two states are physically separated, so travel is rare, as is circulation between them, despite sharing the same currency. As of now, North Sementria does not have a Prime Minister, as the President is physically present there. The North Sementrian hierarchy has not yet been clearly defined. A separate tab will be made on this website once a recognisable hierarchy has been documented in North Sementria.
